BMW 3 series 2012 F30

The all new BMW 3 series 2012 F30 is the sixth generation sedan which will replace previous model launched in 2005. It is one of the most important launches for BMW as well as car industry. The 3 series had set up a benchmark as best driver’s car for many years and i am sure that new car won’t disappoint either. The new 3 series as suggested by different sources will come cheaper than the equivalent versions of Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C class.

The latest BMW 3 series looks aggressive from front and back side compliment with the looks of car. The new car is similar in width with its predecessor but has 93 millimeters more interior space, 15 millimeters more knee room and 8 millimeters of head room for back passengers. One of the most important changes is that the new 3 series is 40 kg lighter than the previous model. The boot space is increased from 460 to 480 liters.

Three petrol and four diesels along with one hybrid engines will be available with 3 series. Different line-up of engines will be offered in North America, Europe, Asia and rest of the world.  A 320i (184 hp), 328i (245 hp) and 335i (306 hp) gasoline engines will be available whereas 316d (116 hp), 318d (143 hp), 320d (184 hp) and 320d efficient dynamics (163 hp) completes diesel line up. All models are equipped with either a six-speed manual or ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

The most important among engines is new 2.0 liter inline four turbo motor available on 328i. It develops 245 hp @5000 rpm and 260 lb-ft @ 1250 rpm. This can accelerate the new series from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The new hybrid engine will be based on 306 hp from 335i. Electric motor will develop 35 hp and BMW claims 12% overall increase in economy over 335i.

The 3 Series will be equipped with standards features such as 6.5” display with iDrive controller, Bluetooth connectivity, USB/iPod interface, 8-Speed Automatic Transmission, Automatic Start/Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration and Dynamic Driving Control with ECO PRO Mode, Active Cruise Control with Stop-go function and Lane Change Warning System and Lane Departure Warning System with camera-based Collision Warning system.

The 2012 BMW 3 series will be available in three equipment levels Sport line, Modern line and Luxury line.
