Citroen number 9 is a prototype plug-in hybrid that indicates the future design of DS line-up namely a C-segment sedan, an SUV and a premium D-segment sedan. The DS concept is equipped with LED headlights, 21 inch alloy wheels mounted with Michelin tires 245/35 R21. The current DS models are DS3, DS4 and DS5.

As a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, one can program the air conditioner to warm up the cabin before accessing it.  Citroen 9 measures 4.93 meters (4930 mm) in length, 1.94 meters (1940 mm) in width and is 1.29 meters (1270 mm) tall. Number 9 has 3 meter (3000 mm) wheelbase which is 100 mm more than C6.

It comes equipped with 1.6 liter turbocharged gasoline engine which develops 225 bhp and 202 lb-ft (275 Nm) of torque and an electric motor with 70 bhp and 147.5 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. The electric motor is located at rear axle. Number 9 can travel up to 50 miles in pure electric mode. It has a hydraulic active suspension.

Citroen DS concept can accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/ph) in 5.4 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 151 mph (244 km/ph). According to Citroen it has an average 138 mpg (1.7 liter/100 km) over a combined cycle which is very low considering its size. Drag coefficient is measured at 0.61 which is significantly less than that of C6 and DS5.

Citroen will display this latest concept on April 24, 2012 at Beijing motor show.
